To protect medical staff and patients undergoing radiotherapy from the COVID-19 pandemic, we must take measures with proper personal protection as well as daily disinfection for workplace and facilities. Here are some suggestions how we can disinfect the positioning devices well.
PART I DISINFECTION FOR MASKS, VAC BAGS AND ACCUCUSHIONS
Method 1: Clean with 2000mg/L Chlorine-containing Disinfectant.
Spray the disinfectant on the device surface, then wipe it clean. For visible contaminants, clean them with disposable wipes before routine disinfection.
Disinfect the devices before and after each treatment.
Method 2: With the use of 75% alcohol.
Wipe the device surface using towel with alcohol. Disinfect the devices before and after each treatment.
DONOT directly spray alcohol to the device for safety consideration.
It becomes more crucial to AVOID the multi-patient use of masks, vacuum bags and Accucushions during the pandemic.
PART II DISINFECTION FOR BASEPLATES AND OVERLAYS
Method: With the use of 2000mg/L Chlorine-containing Disinfectant.
Spray the disinfectant on the device surface, then wipe it clean. Disinfect the devices before and after each treatment.
DONOT use alcohol to disinfect baseplates which contain acrylic material to avoid causing degradation.
PART III DISINFECTION FOR OVEN, WATER BATH AND OTHERS
Method: With the use of 2000mg/L Chlorine-containing Disinfectant.
Spray the disinfectant on the device surface, then wipe it clean. Frequency should be once every two hours, or more if needed.
DONOT use alcohol to disinfect devices which contain acrylic material to avoid causing degradation.
PART IV DISINFECTION FOR BITE BLOCKS
Method: Clearn with 75% medical alcohol.
Wipe the device surface using towel with alcohol. Disfect the bite block before and after each treatment.
WEAR DISPOSABLE GLOVES TO CLEAN AND DISINFECT.
HANDLE WITH CAUTION WHEN USING ALCOHOL FOR DISINFECTION, AND ALWAYS KEEP IT AWAY FROM FIRE!
